Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

First we went to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. There we took a tour and learned about the Globe Theatre history. We got to sit in the theater and take pictures of the stage. The ceiling above the stage is called the heavens because of the designs painted on it. The stage and ceiling both have trapdoors in them. We stood where the groundlings, the poorest people able to see a play, would stand. During this time people who watched the play considered it more of a social hour than a viewing. There would be much more food and drinks and talking.
They are building a second indoor theatre that will be completed next year.
